Asphyre Sphinx v.2.0

By Afterwarp Development.

Freeware 25 Jan 2012

Description

Asphyre Sphinx is the framework for developing 2D/3D video games and interactive business applications. It aids the developer with resource management, displaying 2D and 3D graphics in real-time, receive keyboard, mouse and joystick input, and multiplayer capabilities.

This release supersedes all previous Asphyre releases and is under continuous development. It requires Delphi XE 2 with Update 1 or FPC/Lazarus. Several development platforms are supported including 32-bit Windows, 64-bit Windows, Mac OS and iOS.

The applications powered by Asphyre Sphinx on Windows platform can use many providers including DirectX 7, DirectX 9, DirectX 9 Ex (Vista), DirectX 10, DirectX 10.1, DirectX 11 and/or OpenGL for displaying real-time graphics. The developer can decide whether to use one of the mentioned providers or let the user choose the provider at run-time. This feature is particularly useful for casual game developers where the game is required to run on the majority of consumer hardware. No external files and DLLs are required for Asphyre Sphinx applications to run. Applications developed for other platforms such as Mac OS and iOS use OpenGL and OpenGL ES 2.0 technologies respectively.

By Hadron Games.

Freeware 03 Aug 2010

Description

Hadron Game Engine (HGE) an advanced 2D game engine for PC's running Microsoft Windows and uses Direct3D for hardware accelerated rendering. It's robust, designed for easy use and suitable for making all types of 2D games and other graphic simulations.

HGE has support for use from multiple programming languages and you access the features from a simple and intuitive procedural API to allow you to rapidly and efficiently develop your graphics simulations. There is support for surfaces, textures, sprites, audio, streams, archives, configuration files, render targets, swap chains, databases and much more.

HGE comes standard with language bindings for Pascal (Delphi, Lazarus/FreePascal) and standard C++. For Pascal, simply add HGE.pas to the project uses section and for C++ add HGE.h and HGE.cpp to you project. The bindings will dynamically load and bind to the exported routines from the HGE.dll.

There is also a thin object oriented layer (optimized for each supported language binding) for fast and efficient object management. Features include Actors, Actor Lists, Actor Scene, AI, Entities and Game Management. You can create an actor, drop it on a list it will be updated and rendered automatically for example. There is enough to provide a foundation to build your own higher level object management system from this.

Tyler v.0.01

By Joe White.

GPLS 06 May 2008

Description

The engine for games.

The feature set is pretty sparse at the moment, but what’s there, works. It’s the bare minimum that I decided would be worth releasing. Here’s a brief rundown:

  • Pluggable display libraries. You can select from “compatibility mode” (basic GDI via TCanvas), Asphyre eXtreme, and (un)DelphiX. Windowed mode only — no full screen support in this version.
  • Graphics. These are primitive — everything is a solid-color square. Walls are light gray, floors are dark gray, the hero is yellow, the wandering NPC is white, and that’s all you get.
  • Movement. You can use the cursor keys to move the hero around the map. There’s nothing yet to make you stop when you run into a wall or the NPC, though.
  • Map editing. TylerEdit.exe lets you edit the map and save your changes. It’s primitive, but it works.
Currently you can only have one map. Later you’ll be able to have lots of them — a world map, a map for each town, a map for each dungeon level.

Some stuff is hard-coded in this version, like the initial position of the hero, and the position and movement of the NPC. This will be improved in the next few versions.
