Description

HEXCellent masters all basic properties of an editor and much more:

Editing of files in four possible modes:

  • Hex-Editor
  • Text-Editor
  • Richtext-Editor
  • Interpretationwindow for diverse file types
  • No limitation of file size
  • Multi document application
  • Very variable table view in the Hex-Editor, representation of data structures
  • Any way of changing files in binary level (overwrite, insert, cut, append)
  • Editing of all files without zero bytes in a comfortable text editor
  • Search / Search and Replace on number- and text basis (even mixed)
  • Using of file names on the commandline (with wildcards like c:docs*.txt)
  • Drag & Drop of files onto the framewindow for to open these files
  • Drag&Drop of text onto or out of the editwindows moves or copies this text.
  • Syntax Highlighting in the text editor (momentarily fixed for C++, Delphi, HTML and Java plus one own definition)
  • Insert other files at current cursor position
  • Save selected area as a new file
  • Send file as e-mail
  • Create backup files automatically
  • Preview of many picture formats including printing, editing and viewing possibilities
  • Preview of sound- and AVI-files
  • Manyfold informations in a statusbar
  • Selection and cursorposition will be kept after switching between Hex- and Text-Editor (not at richtext!)
  • If no filenames on commandline: preselection of a start option with no, an empty or the previously opened files
  • Setting of print page layout
  • Reopen the last 10 files
  • Optional: automatic reduction if font size when printing hex contents, so print fits page every time
  • Automatic setting of HEXcellent as the default editor for text files (*.txt) and/or all not linked files
  • Automatic indent and left- and right-trimming of the edit line
  • Export of text files into UNIX- and Macintosh-formats
  • Automatic spliting of files
  • Automatic selection of program language German / English, depending on system language (but help file is only available in German) and now manual override of language selection too.
  • RichText: Import from and export to all avalilable MS Office file filters (Office must be installed)
  • Create, edit or delete MP3-TAGs of MP3 files
  • Create a new file from any clipboard format.
