SPIS Webwatch Site Monitor v.5.3||FNC
||06 Dec 2004
|By Peter Hyde. If you run one or more commercial or mission-critical Web sites, SPIS WebWatch will save you time, money and stress! It is a Web and FTP site monitor program which will regularly and automatically request pages or directory listings from any sites you like, and take corrective or notification action if any are "down", invalid or can't be contacted. It will also monitor the health of the computer on which it is running itself.
Web and FTP sites are now a critical information tool for many businesses -- critical to the businesses owning the sites, and to those who provide Web site services.
Unfortunately, the Internet is a complex organism, and prone to failure. Connections get lost, domain names get "mislaid", servers go down and with automated Web sites there are yet more layers which might go wrong.
SPIS WebWatch keeps an eye not just on connections (which any ping program can do), but also on the Web servers themselves, and any Web site applications behind them... Above all, it does so in an automated fashion, running the checks every minute, every hour -- as often as you need.
We encourage you to try SPIS WebWatch out by downloading a copy, looking at the help file and sample control file that comes with it and, of course, using it to monitor your own sites.

|Components > Data Compress > Custom formats|
||28 Nov 2012
|By Peter Hyde. TCompress provides native components for the creation of multi-file compressed archives, as well as database, file, resource and in-memory compression using streams. Three compression methods (RLE, LZH1 and and LZH5) are built in, with "hooks" for the easy addition of custom compression formats. Now supports thread-safe operation and .NET. TCompress also includes drop 'n play components for automatic database blob, image, rich text and memo compression, based on the VCL's TDBMemo, TDBRichText and TDBImage components. Images compress by up to 98% when using LZH, hence there is a massive saving in disk space and disk or network access when using these components.|

||03 May 2011
|By Peter Hyde. TWebCompress is a component designed to automate the uploading and deploying of
compressed site updates (plus it can "gather" files such as logs from the site into an archive ready for downloading). It can be remotely controlled from HTML, via FTP or used under direct user or program control on the server itself (SPIS WebQueue application makes use of this feature). Compatible with the WebHub application framework for Delphi from HREF Tools Corporation.
TWebCompress itself may be freely downloaded for your own testing requirements. However, operational use requires a registered version of TCompLHA.
The latest version of TWebCompress usable in any Web application, not simply WebHub ones.

Problem Solving with Delphi
This title includes a book and a CD. The purpose of the book is to use Delphi as a vehicle to introduce some fundamental algorithms and to illustrate several mathematical and problem-solving techniques. This book is therefore intended to be more of a reference for problem-solving, with the solution expressed in Delphi. It introduces a somewhat eclectic collection of material, much of which will not be found in a typical book on Pascal or Delphi. Many of the topics have been used by the author over a period of about ten years at Bond University, Australia in various subjects from 1993 to 2003. Much of the work was connected with a data structures subject (second programming course) conducted variously in MODULA-2, Oberon and Delphi, at Bond University, however there is considerable other, more recent material, e.g., a chapter on Sudoku. more...
